What’s the process of canine dental cleaning?
Firstly, we begin with an introduction to the ultrasonic toothbrush and toothpaste designed to break down tartar. Then, we conduct a clinical examination of the teeth using a dental assessment card. We check for missing or chipped teeth, plaque buildup, gum irritation, and signs of gingivitis and periodontitis.
Secondly, I start with the cleaning process using toothpaste and a toothbrush. After that, I dive into the mechanical removal of plaque buildup and tartar. This is the part of the process that takes the longest, requiring careful attention and patience. Generally, dogs can only handle about 60 minutes of cleaning. After this time, they may become fidgety, which could lead to accidents or injuries. It's essential to keep an eye on their comfort level and be ready to take a break if needed!
There is no guarantee that all plaque buildup will be removed on the first visit. Due to the nature of the cleaning and each dog’s temperament, a second visit may be required to complete the cleaning. But do not worry! The next visit is free of charge as it is still part of the complete dental cleaning service.
Some parts of the buildup might not be removed entirely due to the sensitivity of the placement, and general status of the tooth and gums. In these cases, we refer to veterinary treatment.
Now dental cleaning possible in the comfort of your own home!

Tartar and Dog Dental Cleaning
Mouth and teeth-related diseases are among the most common issues encountered by veterinarians when it comes to our beloved furry friends. These dental dilemmas can cause discomfort and pain, making it essential for pet owners to stay vigilant and proactive about their pets' oral health. If untreated, gingivitis may proceed to periodontitis, which may eventually result in tooth loss. Another issue is the generation of tartar which begins with the buildup of dental plaque on the dog’s teeth. If we do not clean those plaques early enough, they will calcify into tartar.
Microorganisms create substances, which can cause dental decay, gum irritation, and gum recession. Gingivitis and periodontitis start to occur. These bacteria and inflammatory foci often have far-reaching consequences, as such harmful substances can enter the bloodstream from the area of the teeth and damage important organs of the body, such as the heart, kidneys, and liver.
Small dog breeds, particularly Yorkshire terriers, Bolognese dogs, and poodles, are more prone to dental disorders. Tartar development is influenced by factors such as dog age, nutrition, and genetics.
Prevention of Tartar formation
Taking good care of your dog's teeth is essential to ensuring their longevity., i.e. do not present them with human food (do not feed them from the table), avoid food containing sugar and acid-forming substances, but feed them with solid food - granules and/or raw food meant for dogs. The advantage is when the dog has to bite solid food.
Dog owners should, for example, brush their teeth with a dog brush and toothpaste for dogs, and use dental gel or spray. Dogs can be given so-called "dental toys" to play with and various "dental sticks" to chew on. Teeth should be regularly checked and cared for from puppyhood.
Important note! Dental cleaning treatment is not a substitute for veterinary care. If the dog's teeth show signs of periodontitis or any deviation from normal, we recommend a visit to the veterinarian.
